Fall Themed Baby Shower + Free Printable

It’s been awhile since I’ve written a post. I’ll chalk it up to the fact that I get very invested in projects. For a good part of October I was working on Nora’s Halloween costume (raggedy ann) and then I was working on some embroidery (another hobby I have, more on that later, I’m sure). In addition, Nora can be exhausting (as most toddlers can be) and in my downtime, I often just want to surf the web mindlessly. But hi, I’m still here! (cue Elaine Stritch GIF :))

My new NIECE was born almost a month ago, but I am finally getting around to sharing my brother and sister-in-law’s fall themed baby shower!

This theme is great because the colors of fall lend themselves so easily to the perfect party decor. Add some pumpkins and you can call it done. Such a simple theme but so gorgeous, and makes way for a bunch of other fun special touches. Also, the gender was a surprise so the fall theme was right on par with keeping it neutral.

My mom (the host) decided to make this a Jack n’ Jill shower. My brother lives about 4 hours away and the whole family doesn’t get to see the two of them too often so this was a perfect choice! Also, can I just say people stayed sooo much longer having both men and women there. You will see as the pictures go on, it starts getting dark! I personally loved that everyone stayed because you put so much effort into the party you want people to hang around and enjoy it. We still did a few fun games (trivia (printable at the bottom!), mad libs (found a great free printable here), baby stats, and opened gifts but it was super laid back. I also think it made the new mama more comfortable having her guy there.

The height ruler was a DIY gift using this basic tutorial from Sincerely Jean but I used a wood burner instead of paint for the numbers and dashes. Labor of love my friends, labor of love. I plan on making two more, one for our house, and one for my sister expecting in March. Lets see if I do it in a reasonable amount of time.

For food, we had a whole spread of things, chicken, salads, a chili bar! (huge hit! I wish I got pictures) and of course, no party would be complete without a dessert table. We had a fun popcorn bar as “dessert” BUT didn’t put the popcorn out until the very last second so it wouldn’t go stale. Also on the table was spice bars, a cake, and candy (which was intended to be popcorn mix-ins but I don’t think that was clear)

We kept the decorations fairly simple by using pumpkins of various sizes in both orange and white. Big slabs of wood for the base, and used sunflowers as a secondary element in the centerpieces and table arrangements. The babies breath filled pumpkins were probably my favorite because they use a ton of babies breath and create a nice draw for the eyes. The sweet print from how joyful shop completed the setup and also doubled as a gift for the new baby’s room!

TIP For simple floral arrangements like the ones I did use a wholesaler like Sams Club, or Fifty Flowers, or whatever has the best price and DIY. In my opinion (and experience), 2-3 flowers are very doable for a novice, anything more you may want to call in the professionals.

Once we got the kids all sugared up the shower came to a close and we sent them home with…more sugar! Caramel candy apples my mom dipped herself were the best fall treat to go, everyone loved them so much I didn’t even get to have one!

It was a beautiful day spent with family celebrating this new party of three, and what we thought was a boy on the way! (I swore it was a boy, but I also swore Nora was a boy so I’m bad at this game) You could imagine our surprise when SHE came just over two weeks later, little Miss Charlotte. She is the perfect addition to our fam clan, and I am so happy Nora has a little girl cousin to grow up with(spoiler, she’s actually gonna have two girl cousins because my sister is having a girl too!) The men in our family are GREATLY outnumbered!
